MOUNTAIN HAWTHORN

Oil paint and cold wax medium on birch panel.

84cm x 60cm

This tree can be found on the Cat’s Back Path, The Black Mountains, Bannau Brycheiniog. (Brecon Beacons) Although you may not recognise the Hawthorn because I have removed much of the tree to reveal the bare bones of twisted branches.

I had this joyous feeling of the branches flinging themselves around in the air and the lean roots clinging to the mountain side.   My shadow is  evidence of my fleeting presence in the landscape.
