After a coloured pencil sketch I need to make an acrylic painting study. This year’s studio diary was ready and in need of a front cover. The black ground was also a useful element to explore ideas of darkness and how the light gets in.

Sketch while waiting for transport to the airport. This one has potential for a painting. I’m excited by the tree trunk sinuously weaving from the lower left foreground up into the more ambiguous upper right spatial plane.
